Alfama on Elétrico 28

The city of Lisbon has a character and uniqueness like no other city I have been to.
Its buildings have  tiled roofs and whitewashed walls - stacked next to one another.
But then it is Alfama the old part of Lisbon. Romans Visigoths and Moors from Africa shaped it.
Modern Lisbon grew westward of it as to the east is the broad  Tagus River.

As Tagus flows to the Atlantic it gets widened like a huge lake and about 25 km before its discharge into the ocean,  the safe harbour town of Lisbon was built on  its northern shore. You can see two huge bridges across the river but the other side is officially outside Lisbon area.
